In 2011, as part of the Brazilian Jazz Sinfônica Season, conductor João Maurício Galindo invited pianist Benjamim Taubkin to an unusual project, bringing together the traditional Brazilian music from different regions and sources to a Jazz Symphony Orchestra.
Brazil has a musical reserve not only unknown to the great audience but also for most musicians who live in the big cities.
Themes developed with time, with patience, within a lifetime. Songs about religious devotion, praise and celebration. A community life from distant places.
To organize the concert, Benjamim, who has been working with traditional music for over 15 years, invited the group Abaçaí, and the duo Soukast.
The result can be seen in the video.
